Powder coating is a process where protective or decorative coatings are applied onto a metal surface and then bonded to that surface by heat treatment.
Slake stock a wide range of primers which are used for corrosion protection of steel. We also have a full pretreatment process for aluminium to ensure your items will be protected from the elements. Most primers are grey in colour so we reccommend a colour top coat to give your item the look you desire. See our colours page for colour options.
Powder coating has been around for over 30 years, it is steadily overtaking the messy and labour intensive wet paint process! It is an environmentally friendly alternative to solvent based paints. The powder itself is dry, and made of finely ground organic resins and pigments. Application is by spraying with a gun which electro-statically charges the powder as it exits the tip. Material is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin" a finish that is tougher than conventional paint.
It is used for a wide range of industrial, commercial and domestic applications, such as:
- Fencing
- Balustrading
- Signs
- Machinery housings
- Window frames
- Garage doors
- Automotive wheels
- Aircraft parts
- Mining equipment
- Office Furniture
- Patios
and many more.
